A very effective waking nightmare invoking all the senses, extreme sense of dread and impending horror. A nightmare awaiting the nightmare. I wish I knew where he is trying to get to and what awaits him there. And I really need to know what the "slips" are in order to understand why they are so important to him.

hey pop. good question. the slips are real or imagined temporal anomalies that present as slivers of light in various colors only he can see. pale threadbare patches in the spacetime fabric. the different colors become important later. sometimes he can walk through the slips and find himself in another part of the hospital. sometimes an altogether different timeline. always still within confines of hospital. sometimes he stumbles through unseen or unmapped slips. but clearly he is still sorting out the quantum kinks and allowing for the possibility that he's dreaming or high or slipping into a psychotic break. when he starts seeing other people in there it's likely to get weird.

It's giving House of Leaves. Or an upsidedown deep dark version of Dave Made A Maze. I'm excited to see how far down the rabbit hole goes.

Chris, it is so good to read stuff by you again! Man, I dig the way you make silence come alive and then a wall of sound is freaking brilliant. Very much looking forward to more. Aside from Patti Smith, yours is the only Substack I’m paying $5 a month for!

Is any of this inspired by the Backrooms? Feel like Jack no cilps out of reality. Or are these slips from real patient/yourself?
