Involuntary is a newsletter examining post mortem my eleven years working on the most dangerous and dystopian psych unit in America. Uh huh you say but what is it really and who is Jack Fell. The Jack Fell diaries are fragments of a hybrid stranger than truth novel in serial form about a schizophrenic junkie paramedic lost in a paranormally unstable psych hospital called Fort Pillow, where the shadow people are real and reality shifts without warning into false memory, into dream worlds and alternate timelines and closed narrative loops. Quantum realms and temporal gravity wells and such. This stack will be excerpts from the diaries dropped like breadcrumbs in the dark along with excerpts from Godspeed and unpublished short stories plus various nonfiction jaunts through the lens of the psych underworld. I’m calling it Involuntary. Welcome to my hole in the wall. If this is your visit, I recommend dipping into the posts Eleven Year Loop and Jack Fell. These go into rather more depth explaining what I’m getting up to here, where I’m coming from and where I’ve been. After that you’re on your own. The essays aren’t time sensitive and the Jack Fell diaries are numbered but nonlinear in nature. If any of the above speaks to you or touches a nerve, please consider signing up as a subscriber. The essays on mental health and societal decay will remain free to all for the unknowable future. The diaries will likely slip behind a paywall at some point. My hope is to make this a full-time endeavor and run like hell to avoid ever going back to work in psych. Bless you all.

peace.
